If I were using today, I’d miss the tiny, curious, thought provoking moments of daily life. The moments that seem like nothing when you’re using, but matter more and more as you journey through sobriety. Moments like a kiss on your head by your partner as they walk by you while you’re just hanging out on the couch. Or a certain song that will put you in a state of euphoria - no substance required. Or watching the colors change and fade during a sunset. Or eating your favorite food from childhood that always brings you a sense of comfort. Or reading something in a book or online that challenges your way of thinking just enough to spark something in you. Or painting, dancing, writing, drawing, singing, crocheting, cooking, cleaning… The point is there are so many moments I would have missed if I were still using and now I cherish them all more than ever.
