A healthy distraction that actually works for me? Talking to people, whether it be a small conversation or a long conversation it helps. I mean we are social creatures, we aren’t meant to be alone. I mean honestly, do the research and tell me where have you ever seen that it’s healthy for a person to isolate themselves in a room or place alone from the rest of society till their dying day? You see people go crazy and lose their minds just wishing they had someone to talk to they start talking to inanimate objects . If you ever feel like using or even if you’re on your way to go use , pick up that phone and call someone and don’t hesitate to tell them your thoughts and feelings and simply say… I just need someone to talk to, 99% of the time, (if you didn’t call the biggest asshole on planet earth lol) people would feel honored and grateful to be there for you… I literally opened my AA book from years ago and called random numbers until some dude I don’t remember and met one time answered, it was a Sunday and he said he didn’t answer calls on Sundays because of how many business calls he gets.. he was confused on what to do because he thought I wanted help finding resources and stuff like that but the moment I told him I just needed someone to talk to, his whole vibe changed and he was completely there for me… for an entire or and some change … he then repeatedly checked in on me for days after even when I wouldn’t respond he’d double text.. some random grown man with a family and business, busy lifestyle . Yet, former addict. Made time for me because US addicts understand what loneliness feels like and majority of this entire world understands it as well, we all get lonely and some of the best conversations we have are the ones that involve the realest, most brutally honest truths being put on the table, that’s when people be themselves.. and I don’t think this world has enough of that, we put on a face for others. So, word of advice, go talk to someone,& be honest❤️
