I made an analogy and was told I should post it. I’d like to start with referring to the word “Stockholm Syndrome” this word helps people realize what can happen to someone who loves and gets addicted to someone bad for them, aka their kidnapper. Now let’s think about it in drug/alcohol terms…. We are basically getting Stockholm syndrome from drugs/alcohol. We know it’s bad for us yet we go back to it because we think we are comfortable there, and we are to an extent because we lived that lifestyle for so long but just like our kidnapper , we eventually realize and start seeing the negatives and they begin to control our lives…. Then we run away from our kidnapper only to be in a world we aren’t used to and a feeling of discomfort… our brain convinces us that our kidnapper will bring us back to peace but deep down everyone including ourselves realize it won’t that’s why we get clean, that’s why we fail because we lose the battle in our head convincing us that we need to go back to our kidnappers…. We are Stockholm Syndrome Addicts…. How does one fix Stockholm syndrome? A hospital told me that within the most recent few years they discovered that addicts stem from a behavioral problem concluded from recent studies we need to fix our behavioral patterns and actions before we can break this addiction to our kidnappers…. You are a Stockholm syndrome addict…. You must break free from the chains our kidnappers put around us if you want to finally be free… don’t forget, it’s your brain that convinces you that you’re safer with your kidnapper than alone…. It’s a false narrative that only become true to you because you spent so much time thinking you were safe with your kidnapper till you weren’t and from time to time you realize that your kidnapper doesn’t have the best intentions for you, only selfish intentions, and your brain tries to trick you into thinking you need something you truly don’t need… stockhome syndrome addicts prepare for mental breakthroughs… love y’all
