When the urge gets too loud I remind myself that the feeling will pass, then I immediately do something stimulating: - I get to the closest person to me that I can confide in and just ask them to hold me. - I play with my cat. - I listen to a song that always brings me a sense of euphoria. (Right now it’s “The Flood” by Crooked Diehl) - I eat something nostalgic and comforting. - I go outside and touch something in nature (a tree, a flower, dirt). - I drink awa (a ceremonial medicinal root from my culture) and sit with my thoughts, letting everything flow through me. - I play some silly games on my phone. And if none of that works, I try to look at myself from the third person. When I do, I see that I am worthy of good things. I am worthy of thriving, not just surviving. I am worthy of peace.
