A JOURNEY TO SOBRIETY Entry 1 — Day 3 October Leaves 🍂 As I begin this journey to sobriety, I am learning to feel what I once tried to numb, to face what I once tried to escape, and to take life one day at a time. As we enter a new season, the leaves begin to change colors, and the breeze carries a feeling of nostalgia. Maybe it takes you back to a summer you once lived, a person you lost, a memory you hold, or a moment when the breeze felt like a hug from something you could no longer reach. Whatever it was, don’t let go of what it taught you. Embrace it. Walk through it. But don’t stay in it. Breathe it in and breathe it out. Let the memories visit without making them your home. Carry the good and the bad, the smooth rides and the rough rides home, the roads that brought you peace and those that taught you lessons you never asked to learn. Every experience leaves something behind. Sometimes, it’s pain. Sometimes, it’s wisdom. And sometimes, it’s the compassion we need to help someone else through their own storm. One day, without even realizing it, you may become that breeze for someone who needs a reminder that they aren’t alone. Your story, your healing, and your courage to keep going may become part of someone else’s reason to keep fighting. And that is how a legacy begins. So, as the seasons change, allow yourself to change, too. Letting go doesn’t mean forgetting, and healing doesn’t mean never hurting again. It means learning to carry your memories without allowing them to carry you. As I continue this journey, I remind myself that I don’t have to be perfect. I only have to keep showing up for myself. If I fall, I’ll get back up. If tomorrow feels difficult, I’ll take it one day at a time. Breathe it in. Breathe it out. Keep walking. This is my third day. This is my beginning. And for today, that is enough. You are not alone. 🍂
